Trailhead Access
Hermit trial and/ or Rowe Well Rd. From the parking lot behind the Maswik Lodge drive between the buildings to Rowe Well Rd. Go left on Rowe Well approximately 2 miles to the Ramada (a historic structure). The road is closed to private vehicles past this point, so park your vehicle and proceed west on foot following the dirt road approximately 2 more miles to the signed trailhead.
Trail Description
From the top the trail follows a gently sloping drainage for about a half mile. After it crosses this drainage, near Horsethief Tank, the trail descends on short, steep, rocky switchbacks through the Toroweap and Coconino formations. The trail gently descends through the Hermit Shale connecting up with the Hermit Trail.
