Grand Canyon Guide Employment & Internships
Grand Canyon Tour Operators specialize in Tours to the Grand Canyon and Havasu Falls, as well as other destinations in Northern Arizona and Southern Utah. Many companies main focus is hiking and backpacking the Grand Canyon, while other companies strictly provide rafting trips, and yet other offer scenic flights or leisurely day tours.
Interships
Many companies welcome students who are studying to pursue a career
in the outdoor and tourism industries. In order to set up an intership you'll need
to be studying a related field, and may not get compensation, but there are many companies that are willing to take on interns in the Grand Canyon area.
Types of Positions and Employers

Grand Canyon Field Institute- This is a non-profit that provides educational trips in the park.
Other Grand Canyon Employment Opportunities
Grand Canyon National Park The National
Park Service offers numerous positions at the Grand Canyon and is its
largest employer. Law Enforcement, Maintenance, Administration,
Interpretation, and Entrance Station positions are some of the most
popular. Because all NPS positions are federal jobs, competition is
fierce, even for work that is not exactly your dream job. With few
exceptions all Federal Positions are listed on www.usajobs.gov and further information about the park can be found at www.nps.gov/grca
Xanterra Parks and Resorts For
those of you whose idea of a dream job is not guiding people through
the Grand Canyon, and you don't want to go through the hassel of
applying for a federal position Xanterra is your best option. The
second largest employeer in Grand Canyon National Park Xanterra runs all
the hotels, as well as several other facilities within the Park,
including the Grand Canyon Railway. They also have some positions driving tour buses. Check out www.grandcanyonlodges.com for more information.
Other Employers Delaware
North runs several stores within the Park, and in the town of Tusayan
right outside the South Entrance. There are also several hotels, shops
and restaurants in Tusayan that are independently operated. There is
also a lodge at the Grand Canyons North Rim that is now run by Forever
Resorts. Several other oppertunities are available outside the Park
Bourdaries and with other Government and Non-Profit Agencies the
sporadicaly work with Grand Canyon National Park.
