Where Is Sedona?
Sedona is located 120 miles north of Phoenix in Arizona's central mountains, and is 30 miles south of Flagstaff. It can be accessed through US 89A, which passes directly through town, or from I-17 by way of AZ 179.
When Should I Go & What’s The Weather Like?
The weather is best in the spring and fall, and this is also when you will find the most people. Sedona is in the high desert, so summer temperatures can exceed the 100’s, cooling down considerably at night. Monsoon season is from the beginning of July through early September, bringing storms at a moment’s notice and the potential for flash floods in Oak Creek Canyon. Sedona sits at almost 4,500 ft in elevation and it can snow in the winter.

Paddle the Verde River on an inflatable kayak just south of Sedona on Arizona’s only Wild and Scenic River. The Verde River is a treasure of the National Wild and Scenic River System, and a favorite of Arizona rafters and kayakers for it beauty and accessibility. Although larger rafts can only boat the Verde seasonally, Inflatable Kayaks (Duckies), can raft the river year-round.
From Sedona you’ll be transported south to raft the waterways of this beautiful desert oasis.
